One of Dubai International Airport’s two runways will be completely closed for 45 days.
Dubai Airports said that their operations teams are “good to go” for the closure of the southern runway at DXB starting April 16. The organization also said that the runway is “nearing the end of its design life and requires a complete upgrade to accommodate future traffic growth.”
The runway closure will see some flights cancelled and some diverted to Dubai Word Central airport (DWC). The number of flights across the Dubai Airport system will be reduced by 19% until the runway reopens on May 30.
While the closing of one runway seriously impacts flights exiting the country, we are monitoring all shipments leaving the region to make sure your freight arrives safely and on-time.
